Avita Co-Op
Amanda Shi
Owner and designer
AMANDA SHI is the trailblazing designer who conceived AVITA to promote the use of ecologically safe and sustainable materials as the next, vital stage in the fashion evolution. Born into the industry from a family who's been manufacturing fine quality cashmere for decades, Amanda has always considered fashion her most enduring passion. After designing for other lines, Amanda decided to launch her own line in 2003 with an initial collection of twenty-five styles that re-imagined cashmere as a year-long wearable fabric. Because extra material is often discarded in the manufacture of cashmere, Amanda realized that she did not want to contribute to such unconscionable waste. So she devised a way to use the extra material as a way of preserving natural resources. Avita's combination of luxury and inimitable glamour proved once and for all that eco-friendly and high style could go hand in hand.
